Andrea’s italian getaway

Andrea recently visited Venice Italy to search for a few new antiques to add to her already impressive collection. Accompanied by her good friend Toma Clark Haines, CEO of the renowned company The Antiques Diva, Andrea set off on an inspiring  adventure.

To kick off her travels with Toma, who has lived in Venice for many years, Andrea was introduced to many of the city’s iconic landmarks. Before embarking on each new day, the pair would stop for espresso at the legendary Gritti Palace.

While Venice might be one of the most magical places on earth, it’s also hard to escape the allure of Paris. With it being so near, Andrea and Toma took the opportunity to travel from the floating city in Italy, to the city of lights in France for a day trip.

For any designer, or antiques junkie, the Paris flea markets are a mecca of irresistible beauty and unique objects. While at the markets, they were able to attend the incredible Illusions d'un autre Monde party, a glamorous party which was the perfect excuse for Andrea to wear a fabulous high fashion statement dress. While at the party, Andrea met some new friends and was surrounded with some of the best food and wine Paris could muster. With a successful trip to Paris under her belt, Andrea returned to Venice with a renewed appreciation for antiques.

On her return to Italy, Andrea made a trip to the small and magical island of Murano, just to the north of Venice. This island is known the world over for its glassmaking. Murano has been making luxurious glass since the 15th century, and to this day the island of Murano still makes some of the most beautiful works of glass art across the world. Andrea was fortunate enough to be able to get up close with these glassmakers and have a private tour of the small island. Before returning to Venice, Andrea had the rare opportunity to see many of the pots and vases that are unique to this community of artisans.

On her last night in Italy, Toma hosted a dinner party for Andrea where she wore leopard print high heels and a hot pink dress, a chic and stylish look much like Andrea herself. Andrea was also able to have one last home cooked Italian meal before making the journey back to the States.

Before leaving the country, Andrea made a brief stop in Milan. She spent the day exploring some of the best fashion houses, as well as enjoying some of the coolest cocktails at the city's finest restaurants.

Andrea is already looking forward to returning to Europe later this year!
